IND vs AFG T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8: Rohit Sharma-led India and Afghanistan will take on each other in their respective first match of the Super 8 round at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown in Barbados on Thursday, June 20.

India are unbeaten in the tournament so far and emerged as the Group A table-toppers. Afghanistan finished second in Group C and defeated New Zealand in the group stage. They suffered a 104-run defeat against West Indies in their last group stage game.

The average score in the 1st innings is 143, you can add another 10-15 runs considering the teams featuring today, but this ain't a 180-190 run wicket," Matthew Hayden and Nasser Hussain said in their pitch report ahead of the Australia vs England match during the group stage of the T20 World Cup 2024 - also the last match played at the venue.

In the match, Australia scored 201/7 after being asked to bat first. In reply, England were restricted to 165/6. Australia spinners and pacers picked three wickets each. Australia pacers picked four of the six England wickets which fell.

As per the ground reports, there is a dilemma on how the brownish Barbados surface would behave. The Kensington Oval pitch in Barbados is expected to help the spinners. Pacers have got help here in Barbados traditionally but world number one T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav has reckoned that the Barbados pitch looks a bit different this time. It's a day game as per the local time in Barbados, and that could further assist the spinners. Groundsmen were trying their best to make it a flat high-scoring surface.

"Here, it was covered, it rained when I went on to the field while fielding. But yeah, it looks better (than the USA)," Suryakumar Yadav said in a press-conference ahead of the match.

India coach Rahul Dravid on Wednesday also hinted that India can play with an extra spinner in Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.

The average innings score in the last five T20s is 160. Teams winning the toss have opted to bowl first 72 percent of the time in the last five years. Team bowling first has won 37.5 percent of the time in the last five years.
