IND vs AFG: Virat Kohli's T20I comeback will be delayed as he would miss the series opener against Afghanistan on Thursday due to personal reasons. The news was confirmed by head coach Rahul Dravid in the pre-match press-conference on Wednesday, January 10.
India will lock horns in the first match of the 3-T20I series at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are slated to make their T20I comeback in the series after a gap of 14 months. While, Rohit Sharma would lead the team in the fist game, Kohli is expected to feature in the second game in Indore on Sunday, January 14.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma last played a T20I match when India lost the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final against England. The senior campaigners have made themselves available ahead of the World Cup 2024 which starts from June 1.

Head coach Rahul Dravid admitted that the IPL 2024 performances would play a key role in the selection of the players for the T20 World Cup 2024.
Rahul Dravid has also confirmed that Yashasvi Jaiswal will open with Rohit Sharma in the three matches. Notably, Shubman Gill is also in the squad. He opened in South Africa alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal.
