India have bundled out Australia for just 188 runs in the 1st ODI at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday (March 17).
Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami have picked up 3 wickets each while Ravindra Jadeja (2), Hardik Pandya (1) and Kuldeep Yadav (1) completed the wicket-taking. Australia, despite making a decent start, collapsed like a house of cards and succumbed to some outstanding middle-over bowling by the home side.
Australia lost their last six wickets for just 19 runs as Shami and Siraj wrapped up their tail in a devastating fashion.
With Australia bowled out within 35.4 overs, India have scripted a little piece of history against their opponents. This is the least number of overs the Indians have ever taken to dismiss an Australian side in ODIs.
Australia have been bowled out twice in a lesser number of overs against India - but both of them happened in Test cricket. They were bundled out in just 31.1 overs in the recently concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy in Delhi. Back in 2004/05, Australia were bundled out by India in 30.5 overs in Mumbai.
For Australia, this is one of their quickest all-outs in history. The quickest-ever all-out for Australia came against New Zealand in 2016, when they lost all of their wickets in just 24.2 overs, facing 146 legitimate balls.
