IND vs AUS 1st Test: Team India claimed a 46-run lead in the ongoing Perth Test despite posting one of their lowest totals in the longest format on day 1 at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
After posting 150 in their first innings, skipper Jasprit Bumrah led from the front as India bundled out Australia for 104 All Out in their response on day 2 of the 1st Test.

With this, India claimed a lead after posting a low first innings total in Perth. Earlier, the Indian cricket team had achieved leads even when posting just 99 and 147 against New Zealand and England respectively. Here is a look at the four instances when India claimed lead when posting a low 1st innings total in Tests:
Among the aforementioned games, India won two and lost two with their victories coming against England in 1981 and West Indies in 2000. Despite taking a slender lead against England in 1936 and New Zealand in 2002, India lost those Tests.
Coming back to the day's play, Australia started the second day at 67/7, with Mitchell Starc (6*) and Alex Carey (19*) unbeaten. Skipper Bumrah struck for India early, removing in-form wicketkeeper Carey for 21, caught behind by keeper Rishabh Pant. This also brought up Bumrah's 11th five-wicket haul in Tests.
In the 33rd over, Harshit Rana got the wicket of Nathan Lyon for just five runs. Lyon could not pick up the short ball and tried to steer it past third man, but it hit his glove and went to KL Rahul in the slips.
Following this, Starc and Hazlewood frustrated Indian bowlers, taking Australia to the 100-run mark in 45.4 overs. However, their resistance was ended after 110 balls, as Starc skied one in the air for Pant to easily pouch.
India bundled out Australia for 104 runs in 51.2 overs. Bumrah (5/30) was the pick of the bowlers for India, bowling fantastically for his 18 overs. Rana also took 3/48 in 15.3 overs. Mohammed Siraj (2/20) also got crucial two scalps of Marnus Labuschagne and Mitchell Marsh in his 13 overs.
Later, India started well post the lunch session as openers KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 50-run stand to take the lead closer to 100 in the second innings.
