IND vs AUS 1st Test: India claimed an upper hand in the ongoing Perth Test against Australia despite posting just 150 in their first innings on day 1 of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy opener at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
Captain and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah completed his 11th five-wicket haul in Tests as Australia were bundled out for 104 at lunch on day 2, giving India a handy 46-run first-innings lead on Saturday (November 23).

Bumrah (5/30) was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors, while Mohammed Siraj (2/20) and debutant Harshit Rana (3/48) also chipped in to reduce the hosts to the lowest ever 1st innings score against India in Tests.
It was a abject surrender from Australia, who could add just 37 runs to their overnight score of 67/7, thanks to Mitchell Starc (26), who emerged the highest scorer for his side.
Earlier, India were all out for 150 from 49.4 overs at the stroke of tea on Friday (November 22) after opting to bat first on the opening day of the Perth Test. And now by claiming a lead, India could pull off an unlikely win.
Two decades ago, India had beaten Australia despite posting just 104. Here is a look at the previous instances when India won a Test against Australia despite posting under 200 in their first innings:
Under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid in 2004 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India were bundled out for 104 in the first innings of the 4th Test at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Australia in response, posted 203 and claimed a first innings lead. The home side, however, fought back, scoring 205 in the second innings before bowling out the visitors for 93 to claim a 13-run victory.
Gulabrai Ramchand-led Indian side posted 152 in their first innings before allowing the visiting Australian side led by Richie Benaud to claim a first innings lead of 67 as they posted 219.
The home side fought back with fifties from Nari Contractor and Ramnath Kenny to post 291 in their second innings, giving Australia a target of 225. In response, Australia were bundled out for 105 as India won by 119 runs.
KL Rahul played a lone hand as India were bundled out for 189 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where Australia went on to take a 77-run lead by posting 276.
However, the hosts fought back through fifties from Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara to set a target of 198 for Australia, who could only get to 112 all out in response in the fourth innings as India calmed a 75-run win.
