The first day of the fourth Test between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) was an exciting day of cricket under largely uninterrupted playing conditions.
Following an eventful Day 1 that saw Australia finish at 311/6, fans can expect Day 2 to feature weather conditions favourable for both pacers and batters at different intervals.

Day 1 of the Test provided plenty of drama as debutant Sam Konstas smashed an entertaining 60 off 65 balls, thrilling the Boxing Day crowd. Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne also made important contributions of 57 and 72 runs, respectively. India's bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, along with Akash Deep and Washington Sundar, kept the visitors in the game. Bumrah was scintillating again as the pacer got three wickets. At stumps, Steve Smith remains unbeaten on 68, accompanied by skipper Pat Cummins.
According to AccuWeather, Day 2 will begin with mostly cloudy skies and a temperature of approximately 20°C. A westerly wind at 19 km/h, with gusts up to 39 km/h. The humidity level of 57% will ensure some moisture remains on the pitch, making it lively for bowlers in the opening session. With just a 2% chance of rain, play is expected to proceed without interruptions.
The morning session is expected to favour the fast bowlers due to the moisture and breeze, making it imperative for batters to be patient and selective with their shots. As the pitch dries up, batting conditions will improve, but the overcast skies and strong winds will continue to test both teams throughout the day.
