The Reddy household took pride after Nitish Kumar Reddy smashed a remarkable century to take India out of trouble in the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne.
Walking in to bat with India reeling at 191/6, Nitish (114) forged a solid eighth-wicket stand with Washington Sundar (50) to take the visitors to 369 in the Boxing Day Test. The 21-year-old scored his maiden Test century in dramatic fashion, reaching the triple-figure mark, batting alongside the number 11.

Nitish's father Muthyala Reddy, who had flown to Melbourne for the game, was seen praying among the crowd as his son reached the landmark with Mohammed Siraj surviving the closing moments of the third day's play at MCG. Nitish's knock came to a close at the start of day 4.
Following his son's historic maiden ton, Nitish's father Muthyala Reddy on Sunday said that his son has made the family 'very proud' and added that his son has scored his debut hundred at the iconic venue, where some of India's greats have played.
"I am really very proud of my son. He (Nitish) brought my family to this stage. He made our family very proud, I thank him for that. I know he is my son, but can't stop saying thanks to him," Muthyala was quoted as saying by ANI.
"My son made his debut century where legendary cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar, VVS Lakshman and Ravi Shastri were played here (Melbourne). As a father, I got tears in my eyes. I pray to god that he will hit more centuries like this in future."
Nitish's sister Tejaswi also echoed her father's comments saying, "We are all very happy. We are all proud. He said that he'd make us proud and he did it and he showed it yesterday. We are speechless. It's his way of representing India. We respect our nation."
Meanwhile, the young all-rounder's mother Manasa was surprised to hear that former cricketers Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar had tears in their eyes watching Nitish's knock.
"It was truly surprising for us to hear that Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar got tears from their eyes after watching my son, Nitish Reddy's century. I am really proud of my son," Manasa said.
The 21-year-old's century cut short India's deficit to 105 runs before Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj ran through the Australia batting line-up in the first two sessions at the MCG. Marnus Labuschagne, however, scored 70 to take the hosts lead past 200.
Later, tail-enders Nathan Lyon and Scott Boland further frustrated India by sharing an unbeaten fifty plus stand for the last wicket, taking Australia to 228/9 at stumps on day 4 as the home side swelled their lead to 333.
