IND vs AUS 5th Test: Unbeaten in Last 3 – What is India’s Record at SCG Before BGT Clash Against Australia?

IND vs AUS 5th Test: Having gone down in Melbourne, India will hope to finish on a high when they meet Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in the fifth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy from Friday (January 3).

Stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah guided India to a win in the opening Test at Perth by 295 runs, but Team India led by returning Rohit Sharma went down to Pat Cummins' Australia in the pink-ball Test at Adelaide by 10 wickets before the third Test at the Gabba in Brisbane ended in a draw due to rain.

Team India also fell in the Boxing Day Test against Australia, and trail the BGT series 1-2. Now, they sweat on other results to stay in with a chance for a third successive World Test Championship Final spot. But before that they will need to win in Sydney to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

India will look to extend their unbeaten record to four at the Sydney venue, but will aim for a win this time around, having drawn their last three Tests at the SCG on their previous tours Down Under.

Australia too will be looking to avoid defeat, which will allow the reigning World Test Champions to defend their WTC title at the Home of Cricket - Lord's in London next year. Australia had got better off India in the WTC Final in 2023.

Australia are also unbeaten in the last 13 Tests at the Sydney venue, but will be vary of their recent record against Team India at the venue, where the visitors have managed to come away with a draw. In the last 13 Tests at the SCG, Australia has won seven, while six Tests have ended in a draw.
