By MyKhel Staff

IND vs AUS BGT 2024 Viewership Record: The Disney + Hotstar and the Star Sports Network has touched a new viewership record in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy Test series between India and Australia.

The thrilling day-night (D/N) Test at Adelaide between Australia and India captivated an incredible 49 million viewers, marking a 22% increase compared to the 2020 D/N Test between the two teams.

Watch-time soared to 4.2 billion minutes, showcasing a 26% growth over the corresponding 2020 match. The Television Rating (TVR) for the Adelaide Test also experienced significant growth, rising by 32% compared to the 2020 Pink Ball Test clash.

First Two Tests: Phenomenal Collective Reach

The first two Tests of the series have collectively reached 86 million viewers on television, a staggering 55% increase compared to the 2020 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Watch-time has surged to 12.8 billion minutes, reflecting a massive 75% growth over the previous edition. These unprecedented numbers underscore the immense popularity of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, widely regarded as the "toughest rivalry" in cricket.

A High-Stakes Climax Awaits

With the five-Test series locked at 1-1 after three enthralling encounters, the stakes couldn't be higher as both teams vie for qualification in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 Final. Team India faces a must-win situation, requiring flawless performances in the final two Tests to secure their spot.

IND vs AUS Boxing Day Test: The next chapter of this epic rivalry unfolds at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on December 26th, starting at 5:00 AM IST, LIVE on Star Sports Network and Disney+ Hotstar.

India must avoid another defeat and can afford at most one draw to keep their WTC Final hopes alive. The series is currently poised and ideally Rohit Sharma and his team will have to win both matches to confirm their place in the WTC Final in 2025. Amid this, the Indian team won't have Ravichandran Ashwin's services as the veteran off-spinner announced retirement from international cricket after the Brisbane encounter.
