Ind vs Aus: Aussie media sucks, baiting Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will boomerang further

The Aussie media has plummeted to abysmal depths, one of despair. For almost a week, they have been targeting the Indians. If, at first, it was Virat Kohli being hassled at the Tullamarine airport on arrival in Melbourne, it seemed the former India skipper was being too sensitive to a TV scribe who had clicked his family photos.

There has been more in store from the media, who featured King Kohli in poor taste in their front page. Mind you, this is supposed to be a respected newspaper, not a rag. Never mind, when the media become worse than social media trolls, it's a sign of agony.

Ind vs Aus

When Sam Konstas used the ramp shot to hammer Jasprit Bumrah in the first innings, he became a hero. One innings and the celebrations from the debutant became wild. He had asked the crowd to get pumped up. On Sunday, there was a role reversal. Virat Kohli almost took over captaincy on Sunday. He was aggro, talking, almost 'leading' from the front. Nothing wrong in that, leadership is not just about titles, as R Ashwin had said recently. Standing in slips, Kohli was barking instructions to Mohd Siraj. "Kone Se Dalo," (bowl from the edge of the crease) was the message from Kohli to Siraj, heard loud on TV. Sure enough, the Hyderabad bowler responded, used the width of the crease to flummox Steve Smith.

If that caught the eye, how about Jasprit Bumrah psyching out the Aussies. He got his revenge back on Konstas. The delivery he fired was a beauty, different seam movement to clip the middle stump. Bumrah had to wave his arm, turn on the crowd. For that matter, the ebb, the flow, the positive energy from the Indians left the Aussie crowd stunned. This was the perfect riposte to the Aussies. By Sunday night, the Aussie media turned ugly, again. They put Rohit on cover with a cheap headline. Why? The Aussie heartless hacks know best. If the skipper was giving a piece of his mind to Yashasvi Jaiswal, it was much needed. Why should it worry the Aussie media!

The more serious Aussie media is amazed at this fightback by India. They are worried and have said Pat Cummins's side is on the defensive, so no declaration on Sunday. Are they worried the Indian batters can come good? Yes, the time has come for Kohli and Rohit to bat, score runs. Like Bumrah put upstart Konstas in place, these two batters have to show the Aussie bowlers something big. They can do it, for justifying the performances put in by Nitish Reddy, Bumrah and Siraj is a must. The winning spirit of Perth has to be infused. Indeed, the body language of the Indians is positive. They should try and go for a win. It is the Aussies on the defensive.

And what about the Nitish Redddy family. Tears, smiles, interviews, his father prostrating before Sunny Gavaskar. This is defining, this brings tears to your eyes. Humility, folded hands, Nitish's sister on air sharing her views in the Aussie radio booth. Compare the print media and the radio, stark contrast. If Konstas is a hero then Nitish Reddy deserves more praise. The next few hours are vital. India must press hard, get rid of the last Aussie wicket and then bat. They have depth in batting. Just Do It.
