IND vs AUS: Australia Playing 11 for Adelaide Test Revealed, Fit-Again Mitchell Marsh Included

By MyKhel Staff

IND vs AUS: Australia has announced its playing XI for the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, set to begin on December 6 at the Adelaide Oval. The team features two significant updates, with Scott Boland stepping in for the injured Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Marsh declared fit to bowl despite recent back stiffness.

Scott Boland's inclusion marks his return to Test cricket after an 18-month hiatus. His last appearance was during the 2023 Ashes series, and his recall comes as Josh Hazlewood is sidelined due to a hamstring injury sustained during the Perth Test.

  • Usman Khawaja
  • Nathan McSweeney
  • Marnus Labuschagne
  • Steve Smith
  • Travis Head
  • Mitchell Marsh
  • Alex Carey (WK)
  • Pat Cummins (C)
  • Mitchell Starc
  • Nathan Lyon
  • Scott Boland

Speaking about Scott Boland's return, skipper Pat Cummins expressed confidence in the pacer's ability to deliver under pressure, stating, "It's pretty awesome for someone like Scotty to come straight in."

Mitchell Marsh, who had been grappling with back stiffness that limited his bowling in the Perth Test, has also been retained in the XI. His all-round capabilities are expected to add depth to the Australian lineup. Cummins confirmed that Marsh has regained full fitness and will contribute with both bat and ball in the day-night encounter.

India, on the other hand, has yet to reveal their playing XI. They head into the pink-ball Test buoyed by their dominant 295-run victory in Perth, where Jasprit Bumrah's stellar bowling and astute captaincy dismantled the Australian side. However, the Indian team will be wary of their past struggles at Adelaide, particularly the infamous 2020 Test, where they were bowled out for a record-low score of 36 runs.

Australia's lineup for the second Test features a balanced mix of experience and form. Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney will open, followed by a formidable middle order comprising Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, and Travis Head. All-rounder Marsh bolsters the side at No. 6, with Alex Carey handling wicketkeeping duties. The bowling attack, led by Cummins, includes Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, and Boland.

The Adelaide Oval is set for another thrilling chapter in the India-Australia rivalry as both teams battle for supremacy under the lights.
