Breaking the sound barrier is known as the Sonic Boom. Shattering the stumps and taking wickets is known as BOOM, Badshah aka Jasprit Bumrah. On a historic Sunday morning at the MCG, Bumrah and Mohd Siraj showed fire in their belly to attack the Aussies from both ends on Day 4 of the BGT Series fourth Test.
The proceedings for the day had been auspicious, as Bumrah produced an unplayable delivery which consumed Sam Konstas. His middle stump felt the pain. Sample this, when the new kid on the block hammered Bumrah for sixes in the first innings, Bumrah was shocked. So were fans.

There has to be a fightback, after that famous Nitish Reddy monumental innings. And Bumrah, at 31, showed he can still be in turbo-charged mode without that ugly glare. On this day, it was fire from both ends, Bumrah and Siraj.
For those who have watched many carnages in the Ashe almost five decades ago, Dennis Lillee and Jeff Thomson destroyed the Englishmen. They attacked in waves. Some called the bowling ends as Lillee end and Thommo end.
Today, it was Boom end and Siraj end, nicknamed DSP. The way Bumrah bowled, he had every batter guessing. In suspense. He was toying with the cocky Aussies mentally. One just did not know what he was going to produce.
The variety, unpredictability and stuff which Bumrah unleashed has already given to the birth of a new title. From Boom he has become Badshah. And why not. To get to Test 200 wickets, below an average of 20, this is mind blowing. Do not make comparisons with fast bowlers from other countries, avoid it.
Enjoy Bumrah, he is once in a lifetime bowler. Just as Indian cricket has seen generations named after legends like Sunny Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and yes, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah is also a generation. India will not see one more speedster like him.
It was good for India on Sunday Siraj was also firing on all cylinders. The duo steaming in from either end, Bumrah and Siraj was a treat to watch. Indians fans have seen Kapil Dev, Javagal Srinath, Zaheer Khan and many more before as speed merchants.
Bumrah is different, Indian cricket has needed him in every format with red ball and white ball. Do not ask questions how long this man will continue. The celebrations on view on Sunday when he sent back Konstas was defining.
Bumrah never shows so much emotion. Today, he was firing up the crowds, asking them to back him. And why not, to wreck the Aussies, to get rid of Travis Head, Mitch Marsh and Alex Carey was what fans wanted to see.
It does not matter what is going to be the result of the BGT series. Bumrah has been captivating. He has turned this BGT series into his own. Like good old Salim Javed in Bollywood movies, who scripted classics, wrote everything from screenplay to dialogues, Jasprit Bumrah is also all in one. He is the actor, director as well as hero in screen play.
Just that the drama he enacts is not in an indoor hall but a cricket stadium where he torments the batters from a distance of 22 yards. Indeed, Bumrah can add few more titles, prefixes to his name from BOOM to Badshah. He is needed in Tests, ODIs and T20.
How long can this hit show continue, be it in India, Australia, England, West Indies. Don't ask questions, enjoy Bumrah. Over and over again. Even his maiden turned wife Sanjana Ganesan is now lavishing praise on social media. This is the mass connect of Bumrah, a real legend. His first fan is at home and we lesser mortals can only cheer and clap. Heard the Boom?
