IND vs AUS: Boost For Team India as Shubman Gill Hits The Nets Ahead of Adelaide Test

By MyKhel Staff

Team India received a huge boost as young batter Shubman Gill was seen batting in nets at Canberra a week ahead of the pink-ball, day-night Test at Adelaide Oval in Adelaide against Australia.

The Indian cricket teams is currently in Canberra for a two-day pink-ball warm-up match against Prime Minister's XI at the Manuka Oval, scheduled to be held from Saturday (November 30) to Sunday (December 1).

This match will allow Indian stars, including the returning skipper Rohit Sharma, a perfect opportunity to get used to the pink ball and its various tricks before taking on Australia in Adelaide for the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

India won the first Test at Perth by 295 runs to take a 1-0 series lead and gained a massive mental edge over the hosts, but the bitter and haunting memories of the 2021 Adelaide pink-ball Test will still be on the back of their minds.

In the 2021 Adelaide Test, India were bundled out for just 36 runs, serving a reminder to the players and fans alike that a lot of work still needs to be done and a remarkable Australian fightback could just be around the corner.

Just a week before the pink-ball match, India received more boost as skipper Rohit returned and in the nets, Gill was seen refining his solid defence. The young batter, who missed the series opener due to thumb injury, first faced side-arm throwdowns before taking on some pace action in the nets.

After missing out on the first Test due to a thumb injury, there were positive signs as not only did Gill seem to handle his bat really well, but his defence also looked pretty solid.

It is unlikely that he plays the next Test. but Gill's return will create a selection head ache for the Indian team management going forward with Rohit also back in the teams and KL Rahul showcasing his ability in the Perth Test batting at the top of the order.
