Deepak Chahar, who was playing his first match for India since December 2022, was hammered left, right and centre by 2023 World Cup hero Travis Head in Raipur on Friday, December 1.
After India set a 175-run target for Australia in the fourth T20I, Deepak Chahar bowled a seven-run over to start the proceeding for the Suryakumar Yadav-led team.

But the figures soon changed once he came to bowl the second over. Travis Head was at his brutal best as he blasted two back-to-back two boundaries on the first two balls.
After playing a dot ball, Head sent the flying over deep square leg to make it 14 runs from the first four deliveries. The right-hand opener hit two more boundaries to collect a total of 22 runs from the over.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer was removed immediately from the attack. However, he returned to bowl the 15th over and picked the crucial wicket of a dangerous Tim David (19 off 20) after being hammered for a six by Matthew Short on the first delivery. His third over saw him give away nine runs.
In his final over, Deepak Chahar dismissed well set Matthew Short and gave away just six runs to finish his bowling innings with figures of 4-0-44-2.
Deepak Chahar, who was recently retained by CSK for the IPL 2024, was included in the India squad for the last two T20Is. He has also been named in the India squad for the ODI and T20I series against South Africa in December.
The 32-year-old has earned his place back in the squad after a good show in the domestic circuit. He picked six wickets for 41 runs in his last match of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023. He picked 10 wickets in five Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 matches.
