IND vs AUS: India will take on Australia in the first ODI of the 3-match series at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali on Friday, September 22. The series is the last for both the sides before the World Cup 2023 which begins from October 5.

KL Rahul will be leading in the first two matches. India have rested the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav for the first two matches. The players will be back for the third ODI which will be played on Wednesday, September 27.

Ravichandran Ashwin, Washington Sundar and Ruturaj Gaikwad - who are not part of India's 15-member preliminary World Cup 2023 squad - are part of the series. Axar Patel, who suffered an injury ahead of the Asia Cup 2023 final, has been named in the squad for the third ODI.

On the other hand, Australia big guns are back for the series. Notably, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Pat Cummins and Glenn Maxwell were not part of the preceding 5-match ODI series against South Africa. Marnus Labushagne has also found a place and is in contention for a World Cup 2023 spot after the injury to opener Travis Head.

India and Australia will kick off their World Cup 2023 campaign against each other in Chennai on October 8.
