Marnus Lubuschagne came down the track and lofted a Ravichandran Ashwin delivery with a four over mid-wicket to seal Australia's emphatic nine-wicket win in the third Test match in Indore on Friday. His roar in the middle and the celebration in the dressing room revealed how much the victory - first on tour - meant for the visitors.

Post the match, the number one ranked Test batter in the world did not shy away from admitting that his team didn't just introspect on their own but also learned from the Indian counterparts to bounce back in the series after losing the first two Test matches in Nagpur in Delhi respectively.

Talking to the broadcasters Star Sports, Labuschagne highlighted the importance of learning from the home team during the overseas tour by revealing an interesting chat he had with India captain Rohit Sharma.

Labuschagne reveals chat with Rohit

"We got to continue to learn and make sure the first Test, the second Test is all not the same. We need to keep learning," Labuschagne told Star Sports.

"As I said to Rohit out there when we were walking. I said 'I am watching whatever you do, I want to learn. You guys are the best in these conditions. We are foreign to these conditions’. You learn from the opposition, you learn from the way they do it. We try and learn and grow with each game," the 28-year-old added.

The South Africa-born cricketer further stated that everyone in the Australian camp "revisited their plans and techniques" after the failures of the first two Tests.

"Everyone just revisited their options, everyone just revisited their plans and their techniques. For me, personally, I have batted in 4 or 5 different ways. I have walked in, I have swept. But I think as the series went on, I didn’t not get those free shots as I did at the start of the series.

"We just said we have to trust our defence more. We are all going to get out standing, Steve got a really good ball, one that just spun and got the edge. But we needed to keep trusting our defence. Once we settle down, the game will open up," he stated.

"We got the right combo"

Further, Labuschagne asserted that consistently prevailing in the Indian conditions was challenging before crediting the right team combination for the success in Indore.

"One thing, we learnt here is that the game is not over until it’s over here. Things happen pretty quickly, we lost 6 wickets for 11 runs. It shows you how tough it is to continue to do well here. I think as a team, as a unit, we got the right combinations.

"We got he left-arm spin, we got two off-spinners, really good ones. And we got Mitch Starc back. He got the important breakthrough of Shreyas Iyer, who looked like taking the game away from us. He provides a little bit of difference," he added.

India were bundled out for 109 in the first innings after a five-wicket haul from left-arm pacer Matthew Kuhnemann. After taking a 88-run lead, they bundled out India again for 163 as Nathan Lyon picked a eight-wicket haul in the second innings. Labuschagne (28*) and Travis Head (49*) unbeaten in the second innings as India were thrashed by nine wickets. With the win Australia have also qualified for the final of World Test Championship (WTC).

The 4th Test will be played from March 9 in Ahmedabad.
