IND vs AUS, ICC World Cup 2023: Australian opener David Warner on Sunday (October 9) broke India great Sachin Tendulkar and South Africa star AB de Villiers' joint record for quickest batter to complete 1000 runs in ODI World Cup history.
Warner achieved the feat during India vs Australia ICC World Cup 2023 match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, when he struck a boundary off Hardik Pandya in the 7th over of the match.

The 36-year-old Australian opener reached the milestone in 19 innings, bettering Tendulkar and De Villiers' feat of reaching the 1000-run mark in 20 innings of ODI World Cup. In his 19 innings, Warner has scored 4 hundreds and 3 fifties.

Coming back to the India vs Australia match, Pat Cummins opted to bat first, but the Aussies lost Mitchell Marsh very early after he edged one to Virat Kohli, who took a stunning catch at first slip off Jasprit Bumrah's bowling in the third over of the match.
Warner and Steve Smith steadied the ship at a slow pace before the former departed for 42, gifting a return catch to Kuldeep Yadav in the 17th over. Australia were 74 for 2 at the time of Warner's dismissal, which brought Marnus Labuschagne into the middle.
