IND vs AUS, Champions Trophy 2025: India Create History, Break Personal All-Time Best After 4-Wicket Win In Semi-Final

By MyKhel Staff

IND vs AUS, Champions Trophy 2025: India booked their place in the 2025 Champions Trophy final with a commanding victory over Australia in the semi-final, securing a four-wicket win with 11 balls to spare. This marks India's third consecutive Champions Trophy final appearance, following their runs in 2013 and 2017 and their 5th summit clash in this very competition.

With this win, they have now chased down the highest target-ever of 265 in an ICC ODI tournament at the knock-out stage, breaking their personal best of 261 against the Australians again way back in the 2011 ODI World Cup quarter-final in Ahmedabad.

Speaking of the match, the Men in Blue made a steady start but lost both openers early. Shubman Gill (8 off 11) and captain Rohit Sharma (28 off 29) departed in the first powerplay, leaving the team at 55/2 after 10 overs. However, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer stitched a crucial 91-run partnership, stabilizing the innings.

Iyer contributed 45 off 62 balls before falling to Adam Zampa, while Axar Patel played a handy knock of 27 off 30 deliveries, hitting a four and a six. The highlight of the innings was Kohli's well-crafted 84 off 98 balls (5 fours), though he missed out on a century after being dismissed by Zampa, caught by Ben Dwarshuis.

At 225/5 in the 43rd over, India needed a composed finish, and KL Rahul (42 off 34)* ensured just that. Hardik Pandya (28 off 24, 3 sixes, 1 four) played a quick cameo before falling to Nathan Ellis, but by then, the match was nearly won. Rahul sealed the victory with a six off Glenn Maxwell, taking India over the line in 48.1 overs.

With this emphatic victory, India now set their sights on the final, aiming to lift the Champions Trophy for the third time. Their opponents will be either New Zealand or South Africa on 9th March.
