IND vs AUS: Massive blow for India! Shubman Gill ruled out of Perth Test with Injury - Who will Replace Him?

By MyKhel Staff

India has been dealt with a massive blow as another injury has struck even before the start of the first Test against Australia.

The first match of the five-match Border Gavaskar Trophy will start from November 22 in Perth, but it looks like India's injury list has increased by one.

Shubman Gill

As per reports, Shubman Gill is ruled out of the Perth Test due to a finger injury. Gill sustained the injury during fielding in India's simulation match in Perth and is now set for two weeks at the sidelines.

Although his finger injury is not long-term, the Indian medical staff don't want to take any risk. With just five days from the start of the first match, Gill will have to now sit out at least for the first Test.

The 25-year-old is the latest in India's long list of injuries. Gautam Gambhir and co. were already taken aback by the injuries of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, and now Gill is the latest addition to that. As captain Rohit Sharma won't be available for Perth Test, it adds to the visitor's woes.

IND vs AUS: Abhimanyu Easwaran may debut in Perth

Amid Shubman Gill's mishap, it may open the door for Abhimanyu Easwaran. The Bengal batter has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket and may make his elusive debut in the Perth Test. But Easwaran will have to step up as the batter's recent form against Australia A was underwhelming.

The Bengal batter is likely to open the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who remains the only regular top order batter available for the first encounter against the Aussies.

India's WTC final hopes are hanging on the balance as they need a 3-0 or 4-0 victory margin to ensure their progression to the finals without depending on any other result.

Rohit Sharma hasn't travelled with the team due to the birth of his child, and the India captain became father as a baby boy was born on Friday (Nov 15). Amid Rohit's absence, Jasprit Bumrah will be leading the Indian team in Perth.
