IND vs AUS: Indian cricket team fans were left tense and worried on Friday, November 17 after ICC named Richard Kettleborough and Richard Illingworth as the two on-field umpires for the World Cup 2023 final match between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 19.

Notably, the two umpires were officiating in the middle when India suffered the heart-breaking 18-run defeat against New Zealand in the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup. Richard Kettleborough was also the on-field umpire when India lost the 2014 T20 World Cup final.

Further, English umpire Richard Kettleborough was present on the field during India's 2015 World Cup semi-final defeat against Australia, 2016 T20 World Cup semi-final, and 2017 Champions Trophy final against Pakistan.

Kettleborough was the TV umpire when India lost to New Zealand in the final of inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) in 2021. He was in the same role when Australia beat India in the second WTC final earlier this year.
