Australia left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc ran havoc on Sunday to pick his ninth ODI five-wicket haul and bundle out India for 117 in the second ODI in Vizag.
The lank fast bowler picked three wickets in the powerplay to send back India captain Rohit Sharam (13), Shubman Gill (0) and Suryakumar Yadav (0) packing.
He returned back later to trap KL Rahul (9) in front of the stumps before castling Mohammed Siraj's stump to wrap up India for their fourth lowest ODI total at home.
The 33-year-old, who picked three wickets in the match, was adjudged Man of the Match for his breathtaking display of swing bowling. Notably, he picked three wickets in the first match as well to help his team reduce India to 39 for four during the 189-run chase.
The New South Wales cricketer has now revealed that his finger injury might just have helped him improve his seam position. Answering a question from his former captain Aaron Finch, Starc admitted that his finger injury might have forced him to change his seam position which is helping him reap rich dividends now.
"Maybe the finger injury has helped it. Maybe it's a good injury. It's something I have worked on for a little while now. It's almost the by-product of what I have done with wobble seam.
I feel like my action is slightly higher. It has helped my arm power which in turn helps me present the seam a little bit better. My seam has been certainly good for the last few and is helping me swing the ball," he told Finch on Star Sports.
Starc is now tied third with Brett Lee in the list of highest five-wicket hauls in ODI cricket. He has once again exposed India's weakness against left-arm spin and would be looking to seal the series 2-1 for his team in Chennai on Wednesday.
