IND vs AUS : Losing the fourth Test in Melbourne has indeed put India in a challenging position in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. The defeat has raised concerns, especially with the recurring mistakes from the batsmen, which have been hard to overcome.
Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin, reflecting on the situation in an exclusive conversation with MyKhel after the loss, pointed out that the batting unit's repeated errors are a significant issue.

According to Azharuddin, this makes the task of bouncing back and leveling the series against Australia a difficult one. "Our batsmen are making the same mistake and that is the main reason as to why we struggled to finish games," Azharuddin told MyKhel.
The recurring batting collapses, failure to adapt to conditions, and inability to build partnerships are areas that Azharuddin highlighted as critical flaws. He emphasized that India will need to make significant improvements if they are to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, especially with the series now on a knife-edge. While Australia remains a tough opponent, Azharuddin expressed hope that the Indian team can recover, but only if they address these recurring problems in the batting department.
"Indian captain Rohit Sharma is out of form and the last Test match would be crucial for him. Even Virat Kohli is getting out to similar fashion. He shouldn't stand outside the crease to negate swing bowling. He should stay inside the crease to play swing bowling properly," Azharuddin said.
In essence, the road ahead for India is tough, and if they are to remain competitive in the series, their batsmen will need to show more resilience and adaptability. "Yashasvi Jaiswal is good but you can't expect his score only to win a Test match. The entire batting unit should perform well," Azharuddin said while adding Shubman Gill is a must for the last Test match against Australia in Sydney.
"India could fight till the last session of the Test because of Nitish Reddy's century. Otherwise, it was Australia all the way," Azharuddin, who believes that India would have to play out their skin to level the series, said before signing out.
