IND vs AUS: Mohammed Shami trolls Harsha Bhogle after taking five-wicket haul in Mohali ODI vs Australia

Mohammed Shami had an outing to remember as India took on Australia in the first ODI at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Friday. The 33-year-old picked his second ODI five-wicket haul to help India bundle out the visitors at 276.

Shami was picked in the India playing eleven ahead of Mohammed Siraj, mainly because he just got to play against Nepal and Bangladesh in the Asia Cup 2023. Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah were the first two choices in the high-octane clashes against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Making the best use of the opportunity, Shami made an early impact by dismissing opener Mitchell Marsh in the very first over of the Australian batting innings. His second wicket was that of a well set Steve Smith (41 off 60). He bowled a perfect in-swinger on a flat batting-friendly surface to clean the stumps of the Australian batting maestro.

The wickets of Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Short and Sean Abbott helped him complete his five-wicket haul and finish with figures of 1/47 in 10 overs. The spell helped him get past Ajit Agarkar and become India's second-leading wicket-taker in ODIs against Australia. Shami has 37 wickets against Australia and is eight wickets behind Kapil Dev (45).

The Bengal pacer did not stop there. During the mid-innings break, he shared a light moment with senior commentator Harsha Bhogle and trolled him a couple of times.

Harsha Bhogle enquired about the heat and humid conditions in Mohali. Replying to him, Shami smiled and admitted that it was hot out in the middle before reminding him that the commentators are sitting in AC boxes.

Harsha Bhogle: "Were you feeling the heat today?

Mohammed Shami: "Yes it was very hot. You guys are sitting in the AC boxes, we were on the ground (chuckles)"

On being asked about his first reaction after taking the five-fer, Shami said the commentators must be happy as they would have a good time talking about it. Once the interview got over, Bhogle praised Shami for always having a smile on his face.
