Nitish Reddy has ticked off another prestigious record on Day 4 of the Melbourne Test on Sunday (December 29).
The Indian batter scored a scintillating maiden Test hundred on Saturday at the MCG, which provided India a much-needed boost.

The 21-year-old from Visakhapatnam, playing his first-ever Test series, stood tall amid adversities and ruled the Australian bowlers in their own backyard. A crafty inning saw Reddy scoring an unbeaten 105 overnight.
On Sunday, India started at 358 for 9 and could add 11 more runs before Nathan Lyon picked up Nitish's wicket within four overs of the first season. Nitish scored the bulk of those runs and got dismissed after scoring 114.
His fantastic maiden ton of 114 runs came in 189 deliveries, comprised of 11 fours and a six. And with that, the India batter has now etched his name at the top of a prestigious list.
Nitish Reddy is now the highest-scoring India player batting at no. 8 or below in a Test match in the SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia) countries. The youngster surpassed the 110 of Anil Kumble, which was scored by the legendary bowler in England in 2007. Nitish's century was the 4th ton by an Indian player batting at no. 8 or lower in the SENA countries.
| Player | Runs | Opponent | Year |
| Nitish Reddy | 114 | Australia | 2024 |
| Anil Kumble | 110* | England | 2007 |
| Kapil Dev | 110 | England | 1990 |
| Ajit Agarkar | 109* | England | 2002 |
| MS Dhoni | 90 | South Africa | 2010 |
Along with that, Nitish Reddy has now the 2nd highest score by a visiting player on Australian soil in Tests, when batting at no. 8 or lower. The only player ahead of the Indian batter is England's Matt Prior, when he scored 118 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
India have conceded a trail of 105 runs in Melbourne and the onus will be now on the bowlers to bundle out the hosts for a cheap score. The result of this match is crucially hinging the fortune of the Indian team as their quest for the WTC Final qualification remains on the balance.
