Nitish Reddy etched his name into cricketing history with a brilliant maiden Test century against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
While the young batter's heroic 114 off 189 balls wasn't enough to save India from a defeat, his knock was a moment of immense pride for his family, who have been pivotal in his journey to the top.

Tejaswi Reddy, Nitish's sister, opened up about the family's emotional journey and their father's sacrifices in an interview with ABC Sport.
Reflecting on her brother's achievement, she said, "It's been a long journey. It's a tough path, and when my father sacrificed his job, there were many people who did not support it."
ABC Sport shared the interview clip on X, captioning it, "A wholesome chat with Tejaswi Reddy, sister of Nitish Kumar Reddy, after an emotional maiden Test century for the family."
Tejaswi revealed that their father, Mutyala Reddy, faced criticism when he decided to leave his job to support Nitish's cricketing dreams.
"Most people felt my father was making the wrong decision," she recalled. "They said we were making the wrong decision, but my father was sure he was making a good one. He always supported my brother, and the thing I should tell is that my brother kept a promise and proved it himself."
The family was filled with nervous energy during Nitish's innings, especially as he neared the milestone. Recalling the nail-biting moments when Nitish was in the 90s, Tejaswi said, "It felt like I was playing the game. It's not him, it's me and my family playing the game. We were praying to God that it should be a century. We were very tense when it was 97, 99, but when it became a century, we were speechless. We are very happy and very proud."
Nitish's century, marked by 11 boundaries and a six, came at a crucial juncture in India's first innings after the top order failed to deliver. He reached the milestone in style, lofting Scott Boland for a boundary over mid-on. His family, present in the stands, celebrated alongside the Indian dressing room, savoring the proud moment.
Despite Nitish's stellar performance, the Indian team fell short as Australia dominated the second innings to win by 184 runs. With the series now leaning in Australia's favor, India has one final chance to level the score in Sydney.
