Sack Isa Guha, right away. The former England player deserves to be removed from the Fox Sports commentary booth for calling Jasprit Bumrah a 'primate' and then apologising.

No, this is not acceptable, a former English cricketer who is herself from Indian origin cannot be allowed to get away.

For hours her comment singed, it burned, what she said on air for Fox Sports. When she said the speedster is an MVP, one would have thought most valuable player. She turned the word 'player' into 'primate.'

A guy bowls his heart out, takes five wickets on Sunday, is admired by the world for his fast bowling skills and perseverance. What business does Isa Guha, whose parents hail from Calcutta, have to be so insensitive. Was she not aware how 'Monkeygate' almost wrecked the BGT Series in 2008 when there was a scrap between Andrew Symonds and Harbhajan Singh. At that time, Anil Kumble was the captain. His most favourite comment at that time: "Only one team played in the spirit of the game."

Where was the need for Isa Guha to use such a derogatory word? Primate means identifying someone as a monkey, langur or baboon, according to the dictionary. Yes, they are mammals but to abuse anyone is bad. A commentator needs to show restraint, not behave like a YouYuber who can spew venom. How insensitive can a lady be on air, Isa? Your apology is not accepted. "Yesterday in commentary I used a word that can be interpreted in a number of different ways. I'd like to apologise for any offence caused," she said. So, she has accepted it. To pardon it, no way.

Isa should know the fine difference between being smart on air and overstepping the crease. Fox Sports must take her off air. Does not Isa realise even Bumrah's wife Sanjana Ganesan is also a leading commentator. How will she take it, her husband being called a monkey? If Isa was unhappy with Bumrah bowling well, striking fear in the mind of batters, she has shown her ugly colours as a Briton. Aussies and Brits are racial, they indulge in taunts. Isa may have a British passport but that does not allow her to get away with word play. Commentary is about not being abusive or smart where articulation is wrong. One has to be accurate and not use one casual word which can cause a storm. And to do this to ultimate gentleman, Bumrah, deserves condemnation.

Eighteen years ago, Late Dean Jones, a fantastic cricketer and human being called Hashim Amla "a terrorist" on air while doing commentating in Sri Lanka. Hamla had a long beard, no doubt, but the word Jones used was distasteful. Dean Jones was sacked then and there. It was insensitive and awful. Jones did return to commentary later. He had atoned, become great friends with Indians and Asians, before his untimely death in Mumbai. Just to jog the readers' memory, Dean Jones had actually picked up the phone and later apologised to Hamla. The South African captain accepted it, though the news has spread like wild fire. Dean Jones got the boot.

Likewise, Isa Guha, even if she tenders an apology, must be censured. Remove her from commentary for the BGT Series. Just as cricketers are punished for any bad behaviour or a verbal duel, a commentator has to be very sensitive. Isa Guha's apology will not suffice. She must be removed from air. It will set an example for all commentators, men or women.
