IND vs AUS: Australia pace spearhead Mitchell Starc equalled a unique record with the dismissal of Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Friday (December 6).
Starc removed the in-form Jaiswal for a golden duck off the very first ball of the pink-ball Test after the returning skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide.

The Australian pacer trapped the Indian opener LBW and drew level with a fellow left-armer for bowlers claiming a wicket with the first ball of a match. So far there have been 35 instances when a wicket has been claimed in the first ball of the Test match.
With the dismissal of Jaiswal, Starc became the second bowler after former West Indies pacer Pedro Collins to take a wicket in the first ball of a Test most times.
Earlier, Starc had dismissed Sri Lanka batter Dimuth Karunaratne in 2016 and England opener Rory Burns in the 2021 Ashes series. Here is a look at bowlers with most first ball wickets in a Test match:
With the first ball dismissal, Jaiswal became the seventh Indian opener to get out in the very first delivery of a Test match. His opening partner KL Rahul was the last Indian to achieve that unwanted record.
Former Indian players, including legendary Sunil Gavaskar, WV Raman, SS Das, SS Naik and Wasim Jaffer also have been sent back for a golden duck as first ball dismissals of a Test earlier. Gavaskar has been dismissed three times off the first ball.
