IND vs AUS: Three Players who may have angered India head coach Gautam Gambhir

By MyKhel Staff

India's fortunes in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy seems to be in trouble, especially after the defeat in Melbourne.

India trail the series 1-2 and their hopes of making it to the WTC Final seem improbable. Amid this, a report has suggested further issues in the dressing room.

Three Players who are likely under the wrath of India head coach Gautam Gambhir

As per The Indian Express, the dressing room environment is 'far from ideal' and head coach Gautam Gambhir has given an ultimatum to the players. It is reported that Gambhir is not happy with the team's performance and wants to make things straight. He gave the players freedom to play in their own way, but is set to tighten the leash.

The recent performances of the Indian team are far from ideal. They lost the Test series against New Zealand on home turf, and now find themselves in dire straits against Australia. With five defeats in last seven Tests, questions are being asked to Gambhir and the Indian head coach will have to come up with answers.

Gambhir was livid after the defeat in Melbourne and will now set a way of proceedings, where the team's need will be preferred over a player's individual way of 'natural game'.

Amid the latest reports, we can assume three India players may have broken the threshold of Gambhir's patience in Australia.

Which Three Players are likely to face the Music from Gautam Gambhir?

Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant will be a primary candidate for Gambhir's dressing down. The southpaw hasn't lived up to expectations, but significantly, has gifted his wickets away. Pant, in the name of his natural aggressive style, shockingly got out while playing a scoop shot in the first innings in Melbourne. His irresponsibility was further vivid when Pant fell while slogging in the second innings as well, a wicket which changed the course of the Melbourne Test.

Virat Kohli

A shadow-chasing Virat Kohli has fallen prey to 5th stump deliveries and he continues to do so. Despite a positive start with a century in Perth, Kohli has failed to keep the momentum and has been repeatedly dismissed with low scores. Being such a senior batter, Kohli was expected to contribute more in the series, which unfortunately hasn't panned out.

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma is in absolute disarray in this series. The India captain's lack of form is a massive worry and Gautam Gambhir will not be amused by that. Rohit decided to skip the first test due to the birth of his 2nd baby, but since coming back, he has only disrupted the Indian team's momentum and balance, and has done nothing with the bat. With just 31 runs in five innings, Rohit Sharma is averaging just 6.20 down under and has kept other batters out of the team despite having a better form than his own.
