IND vs AUS: Australia's preparations for the fourth Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India are overshadowed by concerns about Travis Head's fitness. The left-handed dynamo has been a standout performer in the series, but his recent injury has left his participation in the upcoming Boxing Day Test uncertain.
Head sustained a quad injury during the third Test in Brisbane, limping between wickets during Australia's second innings. Although he didn't take the field on the final day, Head assured fans and teammates that he would be ready for the crucial Boxing Day Test. However, a series of developments over the past few days have raised doubts about his readiness.

On Monday, Head skipped the optional practice session at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), despite undergoing gym work and running drills. The following day, his brief stint at the nets, where he faced throw-downs from assistant coach Brad Hodge, lasted under half an hour. His exit after a conversation with the team physiotherapist, Nick Jones, added to the unease. While Head did participate in a fielding session, the lack of extensive running raised questions about his fitness.
The uncertainty surrounding Head's availability grew as onlookers speculated about his ability to play in the high-stakes match. However, in the aftermath of Australia's first full training session at the MCG, head coach Andrew McDonald reassured the media that Head is expected to take the field on December 26.
"Pretty sure Travis Head will play but there are a few boxes to be ticked. The chat was mostly about his fielding position and what he can do there," McDonald said, addressing the concerns surrounding Head's fitness.
Head's form has been crucial for Australia in this series. With 409 runs in five innings at an impressive average of 81.80, including two centuries, he has been one of the key contributors in the team's push for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. His absence would be a significant blow, especially with the series tied at 1-1 and the pressure mounting on Australia to reclaim the trophy for the first time in over a decade.
Should Head fail to recover in time, Australia may turn to uncapped Josh Inglis as a replacement for the fourth Test. However, the team is hopeful that Head will be fit to continue his vital role in the lineup.
