IND vs AUS: Umpire apologises to Jitesh Sharma despite getting hit by Punjab Kings batter's straight shot

IND vs AUS: Wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma was on song in the fourth T20I against Australia, hitting four sixes and two fours en route to his 46-run innings off 29 balls.

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) wicketkeeper-batter arrived in the middle when India were four down for 111 in 13.2 overs. He upped the ante straightaway after his arrival. His partnership with Rinku Singh (46 off 29) accounted for 56 runs off 32 balls.

The entertaining innings from the 30-year-old saw an interesting moment when the umpire was hit on one of his shots. During the 15th over of the India innings, a high full toss from Jitesh Sharma was smashed straight back towards the bowler Chris Green who could not react on time to grab what could have been a stunning catch.

The ball passed through the right of Green's hands and went to hit umpire KN Anantha Padmanabhan. The umpire apologised to the right-hander for costing him some runs. The ball dropped in front of the bowler after hitting the umpire, denying Jitesh to run even a single. The umpire again apologised to Jitesh Sharma after the completion of the over.

Jitesh Sharma, who came in the eleven in place of Ishan Kishan, hit a six immediately on the next delivery. The six was second of the over. He had slammed a six over deep square leg just before hitting the umpire on the third delivery of the over. Jitesh Sharma completed the 14-run over with a dot and a single off the last two balls.

India finished their innings at 174/9. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 37 and 32 runs respectively. Left-arm pacer Ben Dwarshuis picked three wickets for Australia.
