Virat Kohli had a heated exchange with the media upon his arrival in Melbourne ahead of the highly anticipated Boxing Day Test between India and Australia.
An Australian channel, named Channel 7, had cameras captured the moment when Kohli confronted a journalist at Melbourne Airport, expressing his displeasure over being filmed, particularly in the presence of his family.
The incident unfolded when Kohli noticed cameras directed at him and his entourage. Believing his children were being filmed, Kohli voiced his frustration, saying, "With my kids, I need some privacy. You can't film without asking me."
However, the Channel 7 reporter Theo Doropoulos clarified the situation, explaining it was a misunderstanding.
"Kohli became a little heated when he thought the media was filming him with his children," Doropoulos said on 7NEWS. It was later explained to Kohli that his children were not being filmed.
After the clarification, Kohli took a moment to smooth things over, even shaking hands with the Channel 7 cameraman before leaving.
The exchange highlighted Kohli's concerns over protecting his family's privacy, even as a public figure. The India star is protective of his family and rightly got offended when he saw journalists taking pictures.
Kohli has had a struggle in the Border Gavaskar Trophy so far. Apart from his century in the Perth Test, the India batter has struggled in the series. He has scored a combined 26 runs in the other four innings and is under massive scrutiny due to his lack of scoring form.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is evenly poised at 1-1 after the third Test in Brisbane ended in a draw. All eyes are now on the fourth Test, set to begin on Boxing Day at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, before the series concludes in Sydney.
