IND vs AUS: Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah Spotted at Practice Session After Missing From Nets A Day Before

By MyKhel Staff

As the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy series approaches, Team India has ramped up their preparations in Perth ahead of the first Test against Australia, set to begin on November 22 at Optus Stadium.

After a day of absence from the nets, key players such as Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah made their presence felt during a practice session at the Western Australia Cricket Association (WACA) ground on Wednesday.

While players like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal took to the nets on Tuesday, facing intense bowling sessions from local Perth club bowlers, several experienced stars were conspicuously absent.

Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin missed the first practice session, leaving the younger players to focus on acclimating to the fast and bouncy Australian conditions. The batters, particularly, faced back-of-a-length deliveries and bouncers, simulating the challenging conditions they will encounter during the series.

On Wednesday, the seasoned players returned to action, with Virat Kohli looking sharp and focused against pace bowling. The 36-year-old spent over an hour in the nets, facing both back-of-the-length and full-length deliveries, showing signs of readiness ahead of the upcoming challenge. Kohli's commitment was evident as he worked through four different nets, fine-tuning his technique for the Australian conditions.

Bumrah, who had been absent the previous day, joined Kohli along with Jadeja and Ashwin for the session. The Indian team, determined to maintain their dominant form, is eager to clinch a series victory to secure their spot in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final for the third consecutive time. With a 3-0 series whitewash over New Zealand, India must win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by at least 4-0 to guarantee direct qualification to the final in London.

The series promises to be a thrilling contest, with Australia looking to defend their home turf and prevent a hat-trick of series losses to India. The first Test will be followed by the day-night Test at Adelaide Oval. The series will then move to the traditional Boxing Day Test at Melbourne's MCG and the final Test in Sydney. With both teams keen on a strong start, all eyes are on the upcoming battle in Perth.
