The whole world waits in anticipation as India and Australia take on each other in the Final of World Cup 2023 on Sunday (November 19) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The two giants of World cricket meet in the grand finale after twenty years, after their clash in South Africa in 2003. Although the match prediction is a tricky thing, the hosts India do have a certain advantage in some areas.

If the final gets washed out by rain or any natural calamities, then the points table, NRR and the head-to-head record will come into play. If two teams are level on points and their NRR are same, then the previous match record between them in the World Cup will determine the winner of the World Cup.
The Net Run Rate (NRR) is the difference between a team's run rate and the run rate conceded. A superior NRR enhances a team's chances of progressing to the knockout stages. NRR becomes crucial at the conclusion of the CWC 2023 league stage. Teams strive to win matches with a significant margin in runs and/or wickets to secure a favourable NRR.
India's Net Run Rate has been significantly better than Australia's in the group stages. Rohit Sharma's men finished with NRR of +2.570, compared to Australia's +0.841. Hence, if the match ends washed out, India will be crowned champions.
Also, in terms of the points table, the Indian team hold the advantage. Men in Blue finished on top of the table with 18 points after nine matches, while Australia finished 3rd with 14 points. Hence, in terms of the points table, India will be crowned champions if no play takes place in the final.
India are also ahead in this column. These two teams met in their very first group stage match in the World Cup 2023 on October 8 in Chennai. It was a fantastic start for the hosts who slayed the Aussies at the MA Chidambaram Stadium with a victory by six wickets.
Hence if the World Cup 2023 final gets abandoned after the two days (including reserve day on Monday), then India will be crowned champions for their superiority in the aforementioned criteria.
