WTC Final 2023: Mohammed Siraj picks up Usman Khawaja with a stunner - Watch

India have made an excellent start to the World Test Championship Final 2023 on Wednesday (June 7). India captain Rohit Sharma chose to bowl after winning the toss, and his bowlers have been on top of the Australian batters.

Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj bowled fantastic first overs as both were maidens. Australia had a difficult start to their batting and then it got worse for them.

Mohammed Siraj WTC Final

Mohammed Siraj bowled a stunning delivery which bounced and caught the outside edge of Usman Khawaja in the 4th over. The southpaw's edge was then gobbled expertly by KS Bharat to draw first blood for India. Khawaja's lack of foot movement trapped him at the crease as Australia lost their prised opener for a duck.

It is a massive blow for them as the Australian opener has been their best batter of late. Khawaja scored the most number of runs for them in the recent Border Gavaskar Trophy in India and him going without a single run is a huge scalp for India.

WTC Final 2023: Siraj picks up Khawaja

Siraj, who has made a habit of wickets in his first spell across all formats, was ecstatic and provided a fantastic start for India. Australia have not looked comfortable at all as Marnus Labuschagne and David Warner are fighting for survival more than scoring runs.

Labuschagne also felt the music of Indian pacers, especially Siraj when one ball hit his fingers. The batter was undone by pace and was in pain after being hit by the ball.

Australia are currently 22/1 after 10 overs and they will be hoping to survive the next hour or so.
