IND vs BAN 1st T20I: Tickets Sold Out Within Hours as Gwalior Hosts First International Match in New Stadium

Cricket enthusiasts in Gwalior showed their hunger to see Team India in action as tickets for the 1st T20I against Bangladesh was sold out within hours of going on sale online.

International cricket returns to the city of Gwalior for the first time since 2010 when legendary Sachin Tendulkar created history as the first player to score a double century in One Day Internationals.

That India vs South Africa in 2010 was staged at the Captain Roop Singh Stadium. The IND vs BAN 1st T20I match will be played at the newly developed Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium (SMSCS) at Gwalior on October 6th 2024.

The online ticket window for the T20I series opening match opened at 10 AM IST on Friday (September 20), and all tickets were sold out by the evening for the game set to be staged at the new stadium located at Shankarpur in Gwalior.

The venue has a seating capacity of 30,000, out of which approximately 23,000 seats were allocated for spectators by the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA).

The excitement among fans was very evident as the ticket window for the 15,500 seats in the East and West galleries, priced at Rs 1,115, was fully booked within an hour and a half of going on sale.

International matches at Gwalior have always generated great interest among the cricket enthusiasts from the entire state, and MPCA said in a release it is always indebted to the spectators for their love and affection.

The MPCA also released tickets of the section earmarked for Students and the Specially Abled priced at Rs 929 and Rs 300 respectively. Meanwhile, there were tickets sold for the other stands at Rs 1549, Rs 1859, Rs 2478, Rs 3098, Rs 4708 and Rs 5452. All the tickets were sold online via Insider.in website and the app PayTM Insider.

India will host Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series after the 2-Test series from October 6 to 12. While Gwalior hosts the series opener, Delhi and Hyderabad will stage the second and third T20Is.
