Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were the rescuers as India was lifted from a deep hole on the first day of the 1st Test against Bangladesh on Thursday (September 19).
India suffered a dismal start to their innings, losing wickets early as Bangladesh pacers dismantled them.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill all departed early for the hosts as they were tottering at 34 for 3 at one stage. Sharma and Kohli scored 6 each whereas Shubman Gill departed for a duck.
The duo joined the crease when India were 144 for 6. Although India was staring down the barrels, the legendary duo have salvaged India at the end of day one, with some scintillating batting.
Ashwin and Jadeja have notched up a stellar partnership of 195 runs, breaking a plethora of records en route. At the end of the first day, the home team is currently at 339 for 6, far more comfortable than it was looking early in the day. Ashwin completed his 6th Test century and is unbeaten on 102 runs, whereas Jadeja is batting on 86 as well.
Here are the complete list of records the Indian all-rounders have broken or set on the day.
The partnership between Ashwin and Jadeja is the most by India against Bangladesh in 7th or below wicket. This is also India's 8th highest 7th wicket partnership in Test cricket. The highest partnership in 7th wicket for India in Tests was between Rohit Sharma and R Ashwin, where the pair added 280 runs against West Indies in 2013.
R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have now racked up 500+ runs in partnerships at home Test matches in the 7th wicket or lowe. Only Kapil Dev and Syed Kirmani have notched up more than the duo as the former players scored 617 runs in 14 matches.
Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin's mammoth partnership is the highest 7th wicket partnership for India without any recognizable batter at the crease. Both the players are all-rounders and are not regarded as batters, which makes this excellent knock an even special one.
