Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina recently expressed his excitement about Rishabh Pant's highly anticipated return to Test cricket. The 26-year-old has been sidelined for nearly two years in the aftermath of a devastating car crash on the Delhi-Dehradun highway in December 2022.
The Roorkee-born made a miraculous recovery and is set to make his comeback against Bangladesh in the upcoming Test series starting on September 19 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Earlier this year, the left-handed wicket-keeper batsman went through multiple surgeries and had an extended rehabilitation period.

One of the reporters asked Raina, "Rishabh Pant has come back to Test cricket, what about him?" To which, the former Indian cricketer said Pant has gone about his work pretty well of late in the Duleep Trophy, suggesting that Pant has scored a half-century in the Duleep Trophy and that he has also been keeping the wickets well.
"I think he is looking very good. He has scored a fifty in Duleep Trophy. He has been keeping well,” Raina replied. Rishabh Pant has been one of the key players for India in Test cricket over the last few years. Ever since he made his Test debut in 2018, he has well and truly carved out a reputation for himself as an attacking wicket-keeper batsman.
Having played 33 Tests so far, the Gabba conqueror accumulated 2271 runs at an average of 43.7 including five centuries and 11 fifties. Overall, he has played two Tests against Bangladesh, wherein he scored 148 runs at an average of 49.33, including a fifty, registering his best score of 93 in Mirpur in 2022. Pant will be looking forward to making a telling impact as a wicketkeeper-batsman in the forthcoming Test series.
