By MyKhel Staff

Japrit Bumrah claimed three wickets as India bundled out Bangladesh for 233 despite Mominul Haque's unbeaten century in the first innings of the second Test at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on Monday (September 30).

On day 4 of the Kanpur Test, Bumrah struck early in the morning session, castling Mushfiqur Rahim for 11 before removing Mehedi Hasan Miraz (20) and Taijul Hasan (5) in very quick succession right after lunch.

Bumrah's pace partner Mohammed Siraj also struck twice either side of lunch, while spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in the with a wicket-a-piece to end Bangladesh's innings. Akash Deep had claimed two wickets on the rain-hit opening day. Mominul remained unbeaten on 107.

Earlier at the end of the first session, Bangladesh were 205/6, with Haque (102*) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (6*) unbeaten at the crease with Bumrah, Siraj and Ashwin among the wickets column for India.

The action started after two days of rain on day four, with Bangladesh at 107/3, with Mominul Haque 40*, Mushfiqur Rahim 6* unbeaten. The day two of the match was abandoned due to rains while the third day was also fully abandoned due to wet outfield.

After Bumrah struck early to remove Rahim, Litton Das arrived to assert dominance by smashing the Indian pace spearhead for three boundaries as Mominul reached his half-century in 110 balls, with nine fours.

The promising partnership between Litton and Mominul was cut short after the former was dismissed for 13, thanks to a fine one-handed jumping catch from skipper Rohit Sharma at mid-off. India reduced Bangladesh to 148/5.

Mominul stood firm as he continued to lose partners at the other end. Shakib Al Hasan was beaten by the flight of Ashwin's delivery and was caught by Siraj one-handed at mid-off. Bangladesh was 170/6.

Mominul continued playing some positive cricket against Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, reaching his 13th Test century in 172 balls, with 16 fours and a six. Bangladesh ended the first session on a high with Momimul and Mehidy Hasan Miraz unbeaten.

The first day of action also was spoilt by rain as Bangladesh could face only 35 overs, scoring 107/3. Pacer Akash Deep (2/34) had started the proceedings on a bright note, removing Zakir Hasan (0) and Shadman Islam (24) in quick succession to reduce Bangladesh to 29/2.

After a 51-run partnership between skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and Haque, the former was trapped by Ashwin for 31 in 57 balls, with six fours.
