IND vs BAN 2nd Test: As the action shifts to Kanpur for the second and final Test of the two-match series, the pitch at Green park is under focus. Contrary to the first Test in Chennai which was played on red soil pitch, the Kanpur match will be played on a black soil pitch.
Also, the Kanpur weather is likely to make headlines for the next couple of days at least. What do they mean for the series-deciding Test match? Let's find out.

Green Park curator Shiv Kumar has reckoned that the Kanpur pitch will have something for everyone, just like how it was in Chennai. Pacers will benefit in the first few sessions, batters will flourish on the first two days, and then the spinners will come into play on the black soil pitch. Pitch will slow down with time and there will be low bounce
"There will be that Chennai match feeling. It will have something for everyone. It will offer bounce in the first two sessions and it will be pretty good for batting for the first two days. Then, the spinners will come into play on the last three days," curator Shiv Kumar told PTI.
"We get this soil tested from the Indian Institute of Technology. It's a special soil that is found near a pond in village Kali Mitti. It (bringing black soil from the village) is a practice we have been following for years," said an UPCA official.
India last played a Test match here in November 2021. New Zealand, who were helped by bad light, narrowly managed to save the match by one wicket. They were nine down for 165 while chasing 284.

In the second innings, India declared at 234/7 as New Zealand pacers picked six wickets. Defending 284, India spinners picked eight more wickets in the match, but New Zealand salvaged a lucky draw.
The average runs scored in the last five Tests in Kanpur is 365. Pacers have picked 67, while spinners have scalped 53 wickets during the period. Teams winning the toss have opted to on each of the occasions in the last five years.
