Skipper Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal switched to T20 mode as India on Monday (September 30) broke the record for fastest fifty by team in Test cricket during the ongoing second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur.
By scoring 51 just in 3 overs, India bettered England's record of reaching a fifty in 4.2 overs. England had broken their own 30-year-old record, reaching the 50-run mark in quick time against West Indies at Trent Bridge earlier this year in July.

With just over four sessions left to get a result in the Kanpur Test, Indian openers Rohit (19 off 6 balls) and Jaiswal (30 off 13 balls) showed intent right from the get-go, scoring boundaries at regular intervals.
Chasing a deficit of 233, Jaiswal scored three boundaries in the first over bowled by pacer Hasan Mahmud, who was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh in the Chennai Test.
While the southpaw Jaiswal struck fours, his captain and opening partner Rohit smashed maximums, scoring two in the second over bowled by pacer Khaled Mahmud.
In the third over delivered by Hasan Mahmud, Rohit hit another maximum as Jaiswal too joined the six-hitting party with a maximum of his own before finishing the over with back-to-back fours, helping India score the fastest team fifty in Tests.
Bangladesh soon turned to spin in the fourth over, but Rohit continued the onslaught with a boundary before Mehidy Hasan Miraz had the last laugh, removing the Indian skipper, clean bowled for 23 off 11 balls.
Jaiswal carried on his aggressive style to score the fourth fastest Test fifty by an Indian player as he got to the milestone in just 31 balls. Yashasvi - who started off with three consecutive fours in the innings - hit a boundary on the first ball of the 11th over as India reached the 100-run mark, creating yet another record.
India reached 100 in 10.1 overs to post the fastest century in Test cricket's history and bettered their own previous record of 12.2 overs against West Indies in Port of Spain in 2023.
Earlier, Jaspirt Bumrah claimed three wickets as India bundled out Bangladesh for 233 despite a fighting unbeaten century from Mominul Haque, who scored his first hundred against the hosts.
For India, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep and Ravichandran Ashwin claimed two wickets each, while Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with a scalp that saw him reach a milestone to end the Bangladesh innings.
