Yashasvi Jaiswal cut loose as India on Monday (September 30) broke the record for the fastest hundred by a team in Test cricket during the ongoing second Test against Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.
Jaiswal slammed the joint third fastest fifty by an Indian player to help the team break their own record by reaching the three figure mark in 10.1 overs. India had held the record after scoring 100 in 12.2 overs in 2023 against West Indies in Port-of-Spain.

Like in 2023, Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma were once again the contributors for India in breaking the record. While Rohit departed for 23 off 11 balls, Jaiswal continued the aggressive approach to take India past 100 in just 10.1 overs.
Till India broke the record in 2023, Sri Lanka had held the record for over two decades, having achieved the feat in 2001 against Bangladesh in Colombo. Here is a look at the fastest team hundreds in Tests:
As mentioned earlier, Jaiswal entered the top 5 for fastest Test fifty by Indian batter as he went level with Shardul Thakur by reaching half a century in just 31 balls. Thakur had achieved the feat in London againt England in 2021.
The fastest fifty record is still held by Jaiswal's current teammate Rishabh Pant, who slammed fifty in just 28 balls against Sri Lanka in the Bengaluru Test in 2022. Legend Kapil Dev holds the second spot for fastest 50 by Indian players in Tests.
Jaiswal's stay, however, ended at 72 off 51 balls when he was castled by Hasan Mahmud. India were 138/2 in 16 overs with Pant (4* off 5 balls) and Shubman Gill (37* off 30 balls) unbeaten at the crease going into tea on Day 4.
Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah-inspired Indian bowling attacked bundled out Bangladesh for 233 in their first innings in the rain-hit Kanpur Test. Mominul Haque (107*) played the lone hand for Bangladesh with an unbeaten century.
