Former Bangladesh player Tamil Iqbal has made a bold claim on Arshdeep Singh after the India pacer's brilliant display in the first T20I match against Bangladesh on Sunday (October 6).

Arshdeep Singh spearheaded India to a commanding victory over Bangladesh in the inaugural T20I match held in Gwalior, showcasing his prowess by securing three crucial wickets.

This remarkable performance not only contributed significantly to India's seven-wicket win but also earned Arshdeep the Player of the Match award, affirming his critical role in the team's triumph. Opting to bowl first, India's decision paid off as they managed to Bangladesh to a modest total of 127 runs, courtesy of Arshdeep's exceptional figure of 3.5-0-14-3.

Arshdeep's stellar performance did not go unnoticed, as Tamim Iqbal, a stalwart of the Bangladesh team, lauded the young pacer for his outstanding efforts. Tamim emphasized that Arshdeep's ability to bowl within his limits, avoiding overreaching tactics, played a pivotal role in keeping the opposition's scorers at bay.

"The last over he bowled was unbelievable. People talk about overs bowled by others, but nobody talked about his over. His over was very crucial. And the best thing about him I liked is that he knows his limitations. He doesn't go out of his limits and he knows what he can and can't do," Tamim said after Arshdeep's excellent bowling display.

With a burgeoning career in T20 Internationals since his debut in 2022, Arshdeep has quickly ascended to become a key player for India in the shortest format of the game. The pacer has amassed 86 wickets in just 55 matches, including two four-wicket hauls. His achievements place him fifth on the list of top wicket-takers for India in T20Is.

Arshdeep's significant contributions have sparked discussions about his continued inclusion in the Indian team when Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj return to the side. And to Tamim Iqbal, the left-arm pacer will be part of the playing XI even with the aforementioned duo back at the helm.

"This isn't about one match we are talking about as he has been doing it for a number of years for India and has been phenomenal. He is a frontline bowler. Whether or not Bumrah and Siraj come in, he will definitely be in the playing XI," Tamim added.
