IND vs BAN: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli play Key Part as India creates new T20 World Cup Record

Team India set a new record in six-hitting in their ICC T20 World Cup Super Eights match against Bangladesh on Saturday (June 22).

Rohit Sharma and his troops overtook a 17-year-long record as they cleared the fence 13 times against Bangladesh at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.

This is the highest number of sixes India has hit in a single T20 World Cup match. They surpassed their previous record of 11 sixes against England in the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup, where Yuvraj Singh famously hit Stuart Broad for six sixes in one over.

India vs Bangladesh - Complete Six Hitters of Team India

In this game against Bangladesh, India's sixes came from several players. Captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli set the tone early in the innings, which got carried forward by other batters.

Virat Kohli, Shivam Dube, and Hardik Pandya each hit three sixes. Rishabh Pant added two more, while Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav contributed one each.

Hardik Pandya scored an unbeaten 50 off just 27 balls. Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant made crucial contributions at the start while Shivam Dube finally showed a glimpse of his might with the bat.

India posted a huge total of 196 runs. Bangladesh, in reply, could only manage 146/8 in their overs as India secured a comfortable victory. Kuldeep Yadav was the star with the ball with three wickets while Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah claimed two wickets each.

The Netherlands holds the record for the most sixes in a single T20 World Cup innings, with 19 sixes against Ireland in 2014.

India is currently at the top in Group 1 of the Super Eights after the victory over Bangladesh, who is at the bottom. With the win, team India has also almost confirmed their berth in the semifinals.
