IND vs BAN: India’s White-Ball Tour to Bangladesh Postponed to 2026 Due to Scheduling and Security Concerns

IND vs BAN: India's upcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh, originally scheduled for August 2025, has been officially postponed to September 2026. The decision was confirmed in a statement released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday.

The series, which includes three One-Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals, was deferred after discussions between the BCCI and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The rescheduling was attributed to international calendar congestion and the logistical challenges faced by both sides.

"The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have mutually agreed to defer the white-ball series, three ODIs and three Twenty20 Internationals, between Bangladesh and India in August 2025 to September 2026. This decision has been reached following discussions between the two Boards, taking into account the international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams," the BCCI said in its statement.

The BCB also expressed enthusiasm about hosting India in 2026, assuring that fresh dates and fixtures would be announced at a later stage.

India's domestic season is expected to kick off in October 2025 with the T20 Asia Cup and a two-match Test series against the West Indies. The Men in Blue will then travel to Australia for a white-ball tour comprising three ODIs and five T20Is, followed by a comprehensive home series against South Africa to close out the year.

India had a mixed 2024 across formats, although the T20 team enjoyed a standout campaign, lifting the T20 World Cup and ending with 22 wins from 26 games. However, their ODI form was less impressive, suffering a 2-1 loss to Sri Lanka in their only 50-over series of the year. The Test team wrapped up the season with eight victories, six defeats, and one draw in 15 matches.

Meanwhile, concerns surrounding the political climate in Bangladesh also influenced the decision to defer the tour. According to a PTI report dated July 4, the BCCI was hesitant to proceed amid ongoing instability in the region following last year's civil unrest, which led to the ousting of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government.

The country is currently being administered by an interim setup led by Muhammad Yunus, with general elections not expected before early 2026. The BCCI reportedly preferred to revisit the tour only once a stable administration and improved law and order conditions are in place.
