India's premier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was at his optimum best against Bangladesh in the first Test in Chennai.
Ashwin scored a century and then picked up 6 wickets in the second innings as India scripted a massive 280-run win over the Tigers, thus bolstering their status at top of the WTC points table.

The 38-year-old managed to get his 37th five-wicket haul in Tests, while also managing to score his 6th Test hundred. With the magnificent performance, Ashwin became the only player in the history of the game to have 20+ fifty plus scores along with 30+ five-wicket hauls.
Such achievements not only highlighted his pivotal role in the team but also ranked him among India's elite cricketers, who received the highest number of Player of The Match (PoTM) awards in the Test format.
Ravichandran Ashwin received his 10th Player of the Match award in Red Ball cricket, thus joining an elite list of Indian cricketers. He played his 101st Test in Chepauk. Along with the award, Ashwin now has the same number of PoTM awards as his current India teammates Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja.
Kohli and Jadeja both have 10 awards in the longest format of the game, having played 114 and 73 matches respectively.
In Test matches for India, Sachin Tendulkar has the highest number of PoTM awards with 14 in 200 matches. Former India coach Rahul Dravid is 2nd in the list with 11 awards in 164 matches.
