India started their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign with a comprehensive victory over Bangladesh on Thursday (February 20).
After bundling out Bangladesh for 228 runs, Shubman Gill starred with a fantastic century as India won the match by 6 wickets.

It is a magnificent victory for India, who have notched their first points in the tournament, and now have a distinctive advantage in the semifinal race. There was a plethora of records made by the Indian players on the day.
Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami and others were in the thick of the proceedings and managed to reach a few significant milestones.
Mohammed Shami became the fastest Indian bowler to get 200 ODI wickets as he got to the milestone in his 104th match. The Indian pacer was in excellent form as he managed five wickets to rattle Bangladesh. Shami is now the 8th Indian who has 200+ wickets in ODI format.
The India pacer got to his 200-wicket mark in fewest deliveries. The India pacer got to 200 wickets in 5126 deliveries, 114 less than Starc and 325 less than Saqlain Mushtaq.
Mohammed Shami, with the 5-wicket haul, now is the highest wicket-taker for India in ICC tournaments. Shami now has 60 wickets in just 19 innings, crossing former India pacer Zaheer Khan who picked up 59 wickets.
Rohit Sharma now has become the 4th Indian player to score 11,000 ODI runs, after Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly. The India captain got to the milestone in his 261st innings, which is the 2nd fastest in the world after Virat Kohli (222 innings).
Shubman Gill has now equalled Shikhar Dhawan to become the fastest Indian to 8 ODI centuries. The India batter has reached the milestone in 57 innings, same as Dhawan. The next fastest Indian is Virat Kohli who took 68 innings.
