IND vs BAN: 'Selfless to Careless' - Fans Divided as India captain Rohit Sharma gets out cheaply again

By MyKhel Staff

India captain Rohit Sharma got dismissed after scoring 23 runs in the Super Eight match against Bangladesh on Saturday (June 22).

India was put to bat by Bangladesh and captain Rohit Sharma gave the Indian team a flying start.

Along with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma added 39 runs in the opening partnership. Rohit was batting brilliantly on 23 and hit 3 fours and a six already. As it was finally looking like that the Indian top order may finally fire, the India captain gave away his wicket.

While attempting to dismiss Shakib Al Hasan with a slog, Rohit only managed a thick edge and got caught at backward point, thus giving his wicket away cheaply again.

The Indian top order hasn't fired in this T20 World Cup at all. After the diabolical pitch in New York, there were hopes that Rohit and Virat may showcase their class in the West Indies pitches. Although it was a promising start, Rohit Sharma failed to capitalize on it and gave his wicket away.

Although the India captain again faltered scoring just 23 runs, a section of the fans were in no mood to criticize him. Rather, they hailed Rohit Sharma for his selfless batting. In T20 cricket, the powerplay plays a massive role and Sharma tried to up the ante and sacrificed his wicket for the team, this was the general feeling among the fans in social media. But some fans thought Rohit's shot was careless and he should have played a bit more responsibly.

"I have never seen such selfless player like Rohit Sharma, He could have easily taken single and remained not out but Rohit decided to play for team not for self. Such players comes once in a decade," Navjyot Singh Sidhu reportedly told on Star Sports while commentating. MyKhel didn't verify the quote which was floating on social media.

Perhaps Rohit Sharma could have given himself a bit more time before attacking again? He had already scored 10 runs off the first two deliveries.
