India's senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin continued breaking records in the longest format of the game with the latest being the one for most Test wickets for Indian bowlers in Asia.
Ashwin overtook Anil Kumble's tally of 419 wickets in Tests with a scalp in the ongoning rain-hit second Test against Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium on Friday (September 27).

The veteran spinner achieved the feat after dismissing Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto on Day 1 of the second Test in Kanpur. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant may have played a role in Ashwin's record-breaking wicket.
Shanto was adjudged LBW after he completely misread the turn and the ball struck him on the pads. Later, stump mic revealed that Pant had asked Ashwin to bowl slightly fuller. "Ash bhai halka sa thoda aagae daalna padega," Pant was caught as saying by the stump mic.
Pant's advice from behind the stumps allowed Ashwin to end a 51-run stand between Shanto and Mominul Haque early in the second session of the first day's play, which ended with Bangladesh at 107 for 3 in 35 overs.
The first day of the second Test between India and Bangladesh at Green Park Stadium started lated and was called off due to rain and bad light. The second day's play, on the other hand, was washed out until the second session with day's play likely to be called off.
Coming back to the milestone surpassed by Ashwin, the off-spinners now has 420 wickets in the Asian continent, one more than former India captain Kumble. He is now only second to Muttiah Muralitharan (612) in the all-time list of bowlers with most wickets in Asia.
The top five list for Indian bowlers with most wickets in the Asian continent is dominated by spinners as Ashwin and Kumble are joined by Harbhajan Singh and Ravindra Jadeja as well as a lone pacer in Kapil Dev.
Among the 420 wickets, Ashwin has claimed 370 scalps on Indian soil, while claimed the remaining 50 in Sri Lanka (38) and Bangladesh (12) so far in his Test career.
