IND vs BAN: Sunil Gavaskar in splits after Rishabh Pant makes fun of Mominul Haque's height

By MyKhel Staff

IND vs BAN: India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant was in his element behind the stump again as he teased Bangladesh batter Mominul Haque for his short height during the second session on Day 1 of the second Test in Kanpur.

On the first ball of the 33rd over, Mominul Haque attempted a sweep but missed as Rishabh Pant made a strong appeal for LBW. However, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin signalled that the ball came in contact with the bat before hitting the pad.

The replays confirmed that Ashwin's judgement was correct, but soon Pant chirped from behind the stumps and said that an appeal for LBW can be made even if the ball hits the helmet of Mominul Haque.

“Isse helmet se bhi LBW lelenge,” Pant was heard repeatedly saying.

Pant was indirectly referring to the short height of Mominul Haque, who is five-feet-three-inches tall. Sunil Gavaskar, who was in the commentary box at that moment, took note of the funny observation from Pant and translated Pant's comment for the English language audience.

The stump mic gold from Pant once again went viral on social media. "Helmet se LBW kaise loge Pant bhai yar," a fan wondered.

"One five-footer making fun of another five-footer. Rishabh pant to ashwin isse helmet se bhi lbw lelenge," another one wrote.

Mominul Haque bounces back from first Test failure

Mominul Haque, who walked out to bat at three, emerged as Bangladesh' best batter on rain-marred Day 1. The left-hand batter was dismissed for 0 and 13 in the first Test, but showed grit after India elected to bowl first at Green Park and reduced Bangladesh to 29/2.

The 32-year-old stitched a 51-run partnership for the third wicket with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (31). He was unbeaten on 40 off 81 when rain forced early stumps with Bangladesh score at 107/3 in 35 overs.
