India’s second T20I against Bangladesh saw contrasting fortunes for the hosts as Sanju Samson, opening the innings, faltered, while Nitish Kumar Reddy delivered a stunning performance in the middle order.
India set a daunting target of 221/9 at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, with Reddy and Rinku Singh orchestrating a crucial recovery after a shaky start.

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl, immediately applying pressure on India. Both openers, Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, failed to capitalise on their starts. Samson managed just 10 runs off 7 balls before falling to Taskin Ahmed, while Abhishek was dismissed for 15. India found themselves reeling at 25/2 in the third over, with questions raised over the effectiveness of Samson as an opener.
However, the turning point came when Nitish Kumar Reddy joined Rinku Singh at the crease. The duo took charge of the innings, stitching together a blistering 108-run partnership off just 49 balls. Reddy, in particular, was the standout performer, smashing 74 off 34 deliveries, including six towering sixes. Rinku, meanwhile, contributed a valuable 53 off 29 balls, playing the perfect foil to Reddy's explosive innings.
The Bangladesh bowlers, who had started well, struggled to contain the Indian batsmen once Reddy and Rinku settled in. Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed were the pick of the bowlers, but their efforts were undone by some expensive overs in the middle stages.
Despite losing wickets in the final overs, India’s total proved too much for Bangladesh to chase. The match highlighted the potential of India's younger players, particularly Nitish Kumar Reddy, while also raising concerns over the top-order inconsistency, especially with Sanju Samson's position as opener under scrutiny.
